Mussel Inn have been long time supporters of the Fishermen’s Mission and the excellent charity work they do to provide emergency and welfare support to fishermen and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As part of their fundraising efforts this year, they are running a unique, team challenge event called ‘Shetland on a Shoestring’.

The challenge is to get from the Mussel Inn restaurant in Hope Street, Glasgow to the most northerly fish and chip shop in the UK, Frankie’s in Brae, Shetland. Each team has a travel budget of £50 per person and leave from outside the Mussel Inn seafood restaurant on Friday, 7th September, hopefully arriving in Shetland in time for the Saturday evening fundraising party to be hosted by Frankie’s.

Some of the teams already signed up are ‘Scottish Models’, led by the current Miss Scotland, the Tarbert Fishermen’s Wives and the Scottish Fisheries Museum, and the Fishermen’s Mission is keen to get as many more teams involved to make the challenge as high profile and successful as possible.

There’s still plenty of time to get a team together and plan your strategy, so if you feel like you’re up to the challenge and want to support a fantastic good cause please call the Fishermen’s Mission on 0800 634 1020 or e-mail for details.
