Exhibiting this month is Scottish artist Charles Jamieson. A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, Charles is known for paintings of his travels which take him across the world. His usual haunts are the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and the United States.

Charles Jamieson Painting
This exhibition includes some sketch book work as well as paintings and will give an insight into the workings of this much exhibited painter.
Being Past President of the Paisley Art Institute and Judging Chair of The Aspect Prize, one of Scotland’s foremost art prizes, means that Charles is always busy and involved in the wider world of the visual arts. His own work is in collections in many countries as well as here at home. Those who purchase his work include The Kuwaiti Royal Family, John Le Carré, Harry Enfield, The Royal Bank of Scotland and The Prudential.
A lover of sea food, he jumped at the chance of having an exhibition here in The Gallery@Mussel Inn. No doubt he will often visit with friends and clients and settle down to lunch or dinner with great anticipation. The restaurant offers top quality cuisine in a casual and friendly setting.
Sourcing its produce from the Mull of Kintyre to the Shetlands, the favourites includes not only the best pick of Mussels – steamed in their own juices, or served with one of the specially created sauces – in its signature kilo pot, but also the freshest of King and Queen Scallops or Oysters. On the menu are also a range of creative starters, the Catch of the Day fish and home made desserts, all accompanied by a carefully selected – part exclusive – wine list.
Do not pass up this fantastic opportunity to experience the joys – visual and culinary – of the very best of Scotland in one centrally located venue, minutes from both Glasgow Queen Street and Central train stations.

Mussel Inn’s mussel provider Walter Spiers of Muckairn Mussels was recently featured in an STV news video. The informative video sees Walter at his mussel farm on the shores of beautiful Loch Etive in Argyll. He demonstrates the mussel farming process in detail; how the farm works, where the mussels grow, stages of mussel growth and the harvesting process.
Walter has been farming mussels since 1985 so he knows a thing or two about them. He goes on to explain that mussel farming is the fastest growing sector in the UK seafood market, how healthy eating mussels is (especially for children), and how to cook fresh mussels.
Mussel Inn prides itself on the high quality of produce and ingredients used in our dishes, and are pleased to have a good working relationship with one of the best mussel farms in Scotland.

Summer has well and truly arrived and with the good weather we’ve been having here, we’ve noticed more people than usual coming for a day or night out in Glasgow’s city centre. There are always things going on: street artistes performing throughout the day and well into the evening, cinemas bustling with film fans going to see summer blockbusters like Shrek Forever After and Twilight Eclipse, and plenty of people just enjoying a few hours browsing through Glasgow’s superb shopping centres.
Mussel Inn’s Lunchtime Quickies and Pre-Theatre Offer are proving very popular with those who want to just pop in for a quick and delicious meal then head back out to catch their movie or hit the shops again. So, if you’re having a day or night out in Glasgow over the summer holidays why not pop in and see what all the fuss is about!

This month sees the opening of an exhibition of new work by Scottish artist David Smith. Inspired by his love of the outdoors, Smith’s latest work depicts the beauty of the Scottish coasts and its fishing communities. A prize winning artist, Smith is represented in many private collections, as well as being on public display in institutions such as Glasgow Caledonian University and the House of Lords.
Fittingly, this exhibition, celebrating the beauty of Scotland is housed in the restaurant Mussel Inn, which also celebrates the delights of the sea and its harvest.
Sourcing its produce from the Mull of Kintyre to the Shetlands, the Mussel Inn offers not only the freshest mussels – steamed in their own juices, or served with a wide selection of specially created sauces – in its signature kilo pot, but also the freshest of King and Queen Scallops, as well as mouth-watering starters, Catch of the Day fish and a delicious Seafood Platter.
Do not pass up this fantastic opportunity to experience the joys – visual and culinary – of the very best of Scotland in one centrally located venue, minutes from both Glasgow Queen Street and Central train stations.

A huge proportion of Scottish fish and shellfish are put on ice, distributed to other parts of the UK, and exported primarily to Europe where they prize our langoustine and shellfish in particular, even more than their own!
At Mussel Inn, we are proud to say that all our seafood has lived and breathed in the clean, nutrient-rich Scottish waters: scallops that are succulent and grit-free, plump, tender rope-grown mussels, and, we believe, the finest oysters in the world. Because our restaurants are centrally located in Glasgow and Edinburgh, the great advantage of this is that we serve among the freshest restaurant seafood in Scotland.
Now that the warmer Spring weather is upon us, it’s time to ditch those heavy stews and roasts in favour of the best the Spring harvest has to offer, especially from the sea!
